The McCook Bison softball team finished the day 1-1 at their home triangular on Monday evening from the PFG Gerald Walters Youth Sports Complex. The Bison would lose the opening game of the day to Southern Valley/Alma 2-1 but rally back to win the final game vs Chase County 17-0.
Game 1 – vs Southern Valley
In Game 1 of the day McCook would see a lot of missed opportunities of offense. McCook would have a runner on in every inning but the final inning but would only be able to score one run in the contest. The lone run was scored by Karagynn Brown who scored on a RBI single from Hannah Peterson in the third inning. Southern Valley would get their first of two runs in the first inning while plating the second in in the third. Each team would trade zeros over the fourth, fifth and sixth innings as the Saints finished the game off sending McCook three up three down in the sixth where the game was called due to time limit. Ellie Havlicek was the only pitcher the Bison threw in the game going 6 innings giving up just two runs while striking out five and walking three.
Game 2 – vs Chase County
In Game 2 McCook would start the scoring early and not look back as the Bison scored 12 runs in the bottom of the first inning and added five more in the bottom of the second to extend the lead to 17-0. Hitting wise Ellie Havlicek led the way for the Bison going 3-3 with a single, triple and inside the park home run. In the circle Leighton Anderson got the start for McCook and was dominant going 2 innings giving up no runs or hits and striking out six to just two walks. Regan Boyle finished the game off the the Bison working one inning in relief giving up no hits or runs and striking out two while walking one.
McCook now 4-2 on the season is back in action tomorrow when they host Wray/Yuma, CO with first pitch set for 6:30 pm. You can listen to the action live on 96.1 KICX with pregame coverage beginning at 6:15 PM
