The City of McCook Water Department will begin water main flushing in areas south of B Street starting March 16th and continuing through March 23rd. Water main flushing is an important maintenance activity that helps ensure the quality and reliability of the city’s drinking water system. During the process, water is circulated at high velocity through fire hydrants to remove mineral deposits and sediment that may accumulate in water mains over time. Residents in the affected area may notice temporary discoloration of water or reduced water pressure during flushing operations. While the water remains safe to drink, residents are advised to avoid doing laundry if water appears discolored. If discoloration occurs, running cold water from a faucet for several minutes should clear the lines. Motorists are also asked to use caution when traveling near crews working in the area. The Water Department appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while this routine maintenance is completed. For additional information or questions regarding the flushing program, please contact the City of McCook Water Department at 308-345-2022.
