Bison Softball drops three over the weekend at Milford Tournament

The Lady Bison softball team this past weekend traveled to Milford for the Milford Invite. McCook lost all three games over the weekend to drop to 1-3 overall on the season.

McCook was supposed to play Chase County and Southern Valley/Alma today but that game has been postponed with a make up date TBA.

The Lady Bison’s next time on the field is coming up  tomorrow when they travel to Hastings to take on the Tigers with first pitch set for 6:30 PM.

Game 1 Recap

McCook Varsity Bison couldn’t keep up with Cass Varsity Wildcats and fell 10-0 on Saturday.

Cass Varsity Wildcats got on the board in the top of the second inning after Hannah Bogatz singled to left field, Sailor Manske grounded into a fielder’s choice, and Layla Formanack lined out, each scoring one run.

Cass Varsity Wildcats scored five runs on four hits in the top of the third inning. Brooke Sorensen doubled, scoring one run, Preslee Kiss singled, scoring one run, and Zoey Powles homered to left field, scoring three runs.

Powles earned the win for Cass Varsity Wildcats. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out eight and walking two. Gracey Cornelsen took the loss for McCook Varsity Bison. The hurler went two and two-thirds innings, giving up eight runs (one earned) on seven hits, striking out one and walking one.

McCook Varsity Bison’s Leighton Anderson, the number eight hitter, led McCook Varsity Bison with two hits in two at bats. McCook Varsity Bison turned one double play in the game.

Powles and Kiss were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Cass Varsity Wildcats. Powles led Cass Varsity Wildcats with three runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The pitcher went 2-for-2 on the day. Cass Varsity Wildcats turned one double play in the game. Cass Varsity Wildcats were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Morgan Stone had the most chances in the field with seven.

Game 3 Recap

McCook Varsity Bison fell to Milford Varsity Eagles 4-3 on Saturday.

Milford Varsity Eagles were the first to get on the board in the second when Emily Kenning hit a solo home run to left field.

Gracey Cornelsen doubled down the right field line, which helped McCook Varsity Bison tie the game at one in the top of the fourth.

Milford Varsity Eagles took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Addisen DeLong hit a solo home run to left field, to give Milford Varsity Eagles the advantage, 2-1.

Maeli Kubicek earned the win for Milford Varsity Eagles. The right-handed pitcher gave up five hits and three runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out 15 and walking none. Cornelsen took the loss for McCook Varsity Bison. The starter went six innings, surrendering four runs on seven hits, striking out two and walking none.

Cornelsen drove the middle of the lineup, leading McCook Varsity Bison with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 1-for-3 on the day. Cassidy Rogers led McCook Varsity Bison with two hits in three at bats.

Blair Troyer, Milford Varsity Eagles’s number eight hitter, led the team with two hits in three at-bats. Kenning, Cora Klopfenstein, Delaney Carraher, and DeLong each drove in one run for Milford Varsity Eagles.
