Last season was one to remember for the Oberlin Red Devil Football team as they finished with their best record at 7-3 since 2014 and won their first playoff game since 1977. This season with a bunch of returners back the Red Devils are hoping for bigger and brighter things.
Offensively the Red Devils bring back all eight of their starters including 1st Team NWKL Running Back Josiah Pattangall (SR) who is coming off a stellar season last year that saw him rush for 1,400 yards along with 19 touchdowns. Gage Williby (SR) also returns for Oberlin after receiving NWKL 1st team honors as well. Williby caught 28 passes last year for 695 yards and 13 scores. Brady Gehring (JR) returns as the signal caller for the Red Devils after a sophomore campaign that saw him receive 2nd Team NWKL honors. Gehring last season completed 61% of his passes while throwing for 1,104 yards with 19 touchdowns to just 5 interceptions. Kaden Sowers (JR) will also prove to be another sneaky threat on the offensive side as well after racking up 372 yards rushing and 331 yards receiving last year to go along with 10 total touchdowns and 2nd Team NWKL honors at running back. All three primary lineman return for Oberlin led by Rustin Bailey (SR) who earned 1st Team NWKL honors on the offensive line last season.
Defensively the Red Devils return six of the eight starters from last season headlined also by Pattangall and Williby. Pattangall who was a 1st Team NWKL LB last season finished with 66 tackles including 6 tackles for loss, a interception, a forced fumble and a defensive touchdown.
