Three Oberlin Athletes Sign to Continue Athletic Careers

Three Oberlin Red Devil Athletes signed on the dotted line yesterday to continue their academic and athletic careers in college.

Brylee Minnick signed yesterday to continue her basketball career at McCook Community College. Minnick played in 89 games for the Red Devils over the past four years averaging 11.2 points per game, 7.0 rebounds per game, 2.2 assists per game and 2.6 steals per game. Minnick this past season set career high’s in points per game(15.8), rebounds per game(8.4), assists per game(2.7) and steals per game(3.0) while leading Oberlin to 17 wins, the most going back to 2006-2007, and a Sub-State Semifinal appearance. In her senior season Minnick finished as a First Team NKWL All League Selection, Third Team KSHSAA Covered All Class Selection and was KBCA All-State Honorable Mention.

Tyler Ostmeyer signed to continue his basketball career at Kansas Wesleyan University. Ostmeyer played in 87 games with the Red Devils over the past four years averaging 14.9 points per game, 9.3 rebounds per game, 2.5 assists per game and 2.0 blocks per game. Ostmeyer this past season averaged 15.5 points per game, 8.4 rebounds per game, 3.5 assists per game, and 2.2 blocks per game while leading Oberlin to 16 wins, the most going back to 2005-2006, and a Sub-State Semifinal appearance. In his senior season he finished as a First Team NWKL All League Selection, and Honorable Mention KSHSAA All Class Selection.

Koen Oien signed to continue his golf career at Kansas Wesleyan University. Oien who in his career at Oberlin has a average score of 90 including seven top five finishes. Oien finished as the 1A Regional Champion last year while helping Oberlin make their second straight state tournament appearance. This season Oien has finished in the top five four times with an average score of 89.
