
The Oberlin Red Devils baseball team lost both games of the doubleheader yesterday at home against Plainville, losing game one 13-4 and game two 17-2.
Game #1 Recap
Oberlin had trouble keeping up with Plainville in a 13-4 loss on Tuesday at Oberlin, Kansas. A double by Quintin Maddox put Plainville on the board in the top of the first.A ground out by Dalton Woolman extended the Plainville lead to 3-0 in the top of the second inning. Plainville added to their early lead in the top of the third inning when Quintin Maddox singled, scoring one run, Easton Ditter singled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run. Quintin Maddox earned the win for Plainville. The pitcher allowed four hits and four runs (two earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out three and walking one. Caden Shaw took the loss for Oberlin. The hurler went four and two-thirds innings, surrendering 11 runs (nine earned) on six hits, striking out five and walking four. Easton Ditter stepped on the bump first for Plainville. The pitcher allowed four hits and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking none. Ricardo Munoz and Tyler Ostmeyer each collected two hits for Oberlin. Trenton Whalmeier, Caden Shaw, and Ricardo Munoz each drove in one run for Oberlin. Ricardo Munoz, Brody Fortin, and Christian Smith-Titus each stole multiple bases for Oberlin. Oberlin ran wild on the base paths, collecting eight stolen bases for the game. Plainville scored 12 runs in the third inning, which helped them defeat Oberlin 17-2 on Tuesday at Oberlin, Kansas.
Plainville jumped out to the lead in the top of the second inning after Reid Stamper drew a walk, scoring one run, Carson Ditter singled, scoring three runs, and Ryddik Bethel singled, scoring one run. Plainville scored 12 runs on seven hits in the top of the third inning. Corbin Phleiger drew a walk, scoring one run, Reid Stamper grounded out, scoring one run, Carson Ditter doubled, scoring two runs, a wild pitch scored one run, Quintin Maddox drew a walk, scoring one run, Easton Ditter singled, scoring two runs, Zayne Stahl singled, scoring one run, and Carson Ditter doubled, scoring three runs. Ryddik Bethel earned the win for Plainville. The hurler surrendered two hits and two runs over two and one-third innings, striking out six and walking five. Josiah Pattangall took the loss for Oberlin. The starter went two innings, giving up eight runs on four hits, striking out none and walking eight.
