
The Oberlin Red Devils Boys and Girls basketball teams pick up big road wins last night over the Northern Valley Huskies.
In girls action Oberlin got off to a slow start just leading 12-8 after the first quarter. The Red Devils in the second quarter would lean on their defense to pull ahead 24-11 at half. In the third Oberlin would get a great start hitting two threes to open the quarter, one coming from Jori Fortin and the other from Brylee Minnick. In the end it was a 21 point quarter and the Red Devils would lead 45-17 heading into the fourth where the Red Devils would put up 13 more points to take the victory 58-26. Oberlin was led in scoring by Maria Rodriguez who scored 14 points, Minnick also hit double figures with 11. The Lady Red Devils are now 9-3 on the season.
In the boys contest Oberlin set the pace early and never looked back. The Red Devils would jump out to a 17-6 lead after the first quarter and a 31-10 at the half. Northern Valley wouldn’t make it easy as they would outscore Oberlin 16-15 in the third. Oberlin dominated the fourth after a Huskies opening three scoring 14 points and cruising to the victory 60-29. Oberlin had three double figure scorers, Gage Williby led the way with 19 points while both Brycen Ketterl and Tyler Ostmeyer had 16 points. With the win the Red Devils have won 7 of their last 9 games and are 8-4 on the season.
