The Community Hospital Health Foundation is pleased to announce a $100,000 grant toward the purchase of the AlignRT system for the Anderson Center for Radiation Oncology. This state-of-the-art technology enhances cancer treatment precision, improving the quality of radiation oncology care. The system was installed in January and is now in use.
Using advanced camera technology, AlignRT detects even the slightest patient movement, alerting the radiation therapist to terminate radiation delivery pending realignment of the patient. AlighnRT minimizes radiation exposure to healthy tissues by maintaining accurate patient positioning. Patients experience no discomfort or additional radiation exposure during the monitoring process.
The addition of AlignRT will significantly benefit patients by improving treatment outcomes, reducing treatment times, and enhancing overall comfort and confidence. Karen Kliment Thompson, Vice President of Ancillary Services, states, “The integration of the AlignRT system represents the new standard of care in radiation therapy. Its presence in the Anderson Center for Radiation Oncology ensures that our services remain on par with top-tier cancer care facilities.”
Radiation Oncologist Dr. Todd Hlavaty adds, “My team and I are incredibly grateful for this generous gift and the ongoing support from the Community Hospital Health Foundation. The AlignRT system works seamlessly with our existing equipment to achieve submillimeter accuracy, allowing for highly precise, cutting-edge treatments. Exciting things are happening in McCook!”
The Health Foundation extends its deepest gratitude to donors and community supporters. Their generosity has made this advancement in cancer care possible. Jessica Bortner, Health Foundation Executive Director, states, “This state-of-the-art equipment is a testament to the power of community support. Our donors’ dedication allows us to provide excellent care for our patients, keeping them close to home.”
