There is only a two-week opportunity in which to act, but for some small businesses, the money received from the Small Business Grant program could be the lifeline needed to tide them over until customers stream back.
“I applaud the governor for doing everything possible to help those Nebraska small businesses which are,” said Bob Hallstrom, Nebraska state director for NFIB, the nation’s leading small-business association. “The federal Paycheck Protection Program closes June 30, some will still be wondering for months if their Economic Injury Disaster Loan will ever come through, so what the governor is doing with his Small Business Stabilization Grant program is significant—and it will be administered here in Nebraska not from D.C. Gov. Pete Ricketts has never forgotten the importance of small businesses to not only the state’s economy but also to the everyday lives of hundreds of thousands of Nebraskans.”
According to a news release from the governor, “The Small Business Stabilization Grant Program will provide grants to small businesses with 5-49 employees who were impacted by the coronavirus and meet certain eligibility requirements. The Livestock Producer Stabilization Grant Program will provide grants to eligible livestock producers with 1-10 employees who have endured revenue or employment loss due to the pandemic. Grants for both programs can be used for working capital and to cover business operating expenses. The application period for each program will open on June 15th, with applications due on June 26th.”
