On Monday, June 3, 2019, during the public hearings, Sean Wolfe mentioned a Regional Grant Initiative, a house matching program combined with Cambridge and Benkelman, as well as a project that teaches business recruitment strategies that can help find new retailers for the McCook market.
On the agenda was the motion to close off West C street for Heritage Days fundraisers and activities. The issue of lack of parking for shoppers and clients was brought up and called for further discussion that later resulted in the action’s representative, Jamie Mockry, director of the chamber of commerce, to ask for an amendment removing the request for West C street in the motion. The remaining portion of the motion, the request for the East 1st parking lot and the use of its utilities, as well as the closing of East D to East 1st on June 20th, 2019, was later approved.
The motion for closing streets for the Car Show on July 13th, 2019, Street Dance on July 12th, 2019, and Cruise Night on July 12th, 2019 was postponed for the next City Council meeting on June 17th.
There was a motion approved to vacate Commerce Street as platted in Lyons Addition as its main use is for parking and there are no plans for development on the street in the future.
