Because of weather concerns Thursday, the Region IX softball tournament has been pushed back a day and will start Friday and continue through Sunday if necessary. This is a double elimination tournament.
Western Nebraska gained the top seed for the right to host the post season. The Cougars went 24-6 in Region IX and 32-18 overall. Otero Junior College is the second seed at 19-11 and 32-14 overall. Trinidad State Junior College gained the third seed at 15-15 and 24-25 overall while MCC finished fourth at 13-17 and 27-31 overall.
MCC will take on Western Nebraska at noon (MT) on Friday. Otero and Trinidad play at 3 p.m. MT.
An MCC win in the first game would put them in a 6 p.m. winner’s bracket final. A loss puts them in the loser’s bracket at 9 p.m. Friday. On Saturday, game times are at 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and if necessary the final game would be played at noon Sunday.
