MCC Volleyball team recognized as ‘adopt-a-kennel’ sponsor

The McCook Humane Society has recognized the McCook Community College volleyball team as September’s “Adopt-A-Kennel” Sponsor.  This is a program where local individuals, businesses and groups can show the community their support for the areas homeless animals.   According to Coach Hayley Kobza part of the motivation for this project came with the death of her dog “Dottie” — a long-time companion — last month. The team has adopted a kennel in memory of “Dottie” who was adopted from a humane society in Oklahoma in 2008.  The MCC Volleyball kennel will have a displayed sign which includes a couple images of “Dottie” and the inscription “This Kennel Lovingly Sponsored by MCC Lady Indians Volleyball… In Memory of ‘Dottie’ … adopted in Oklahoma in June of 2008, a loyal and faithful companion until August of 2018.” Kobza said the Humane Society’s Adopt a Kennel Program is a perfect idea for a classroom project and has been a big hit with her players. The entire team spent time with several animals a few hours prior to three-set sweep over Garden City Tuesday. On most days two or three players help walk dogs before practice. She expects her team to continue to be frequent visitors to the Humane Society for the remainder of the year.
