MHS VB coach Dennis Troester retiring

McCook High School announced recently announced the retiring of  Head Volleyball Coach Dennis Troester.  Troester has been with MHS for the past four seasons.  Prior to accepting the position in McCook, Dennis coached for more than 40 years at Republican Valley and Southwest High Schools and has won more than 700 games in volleyball.   His volleyball teams have won 7 state championships, 5 runner up titles, 12 district championships, and 21 conference championships,  compiling a record of  709 victories and only 157 loses.  He retired in 2012 from Southwest High School
The past two seasons have been some of the most successful in the history of McCook Volleyball compiling a record of   44 wins and 25 loses. This season the team finished in a tie for first in the SWC regular season, a second place finish in the GNAC, and Runner-Up in the District 8 Volleyball Tournament.  Troester ends his coaching career at 765 wins.  MHS Athletic Director Darin Nichols said that Dennis created a successful program by developing our young athletes and mentoring our coaching staff in hopes that we can continue to build our program to one the student/athletes, school, and community can be proud of and be excited to be a part of.  Nichols said they do have a great group of young coaches remaining on the staff to continue with the program and McCook High School will be in search of the best possible candidate to replace Troester through in-house coaching staff and possible teaching openings this school year.
